2021 College Football Pool

Picks/Scoring: Entrants pick from college football games each week, but only choosing ten games. Games selected DO NOT involve spreads, instead the 'Money Line' of each game. Each game selected has a base pts of 100, with your selection earning points based on the money line of the game.

Money Line: A money line is to win the game outright. For example, suppose Florida is favored by the traditional spread concept of 7 points to win over Miami. The odds makers will have also set a Money Line on the game, supposing -320 for a Florida win (just win, no spread), and a 290 for a Miami win. With a base value of your selection being 100 pts, if you select Miami to win, and they do, you earn 390 pts for the game (290 ML + 100 back). On the other hand, if you pick Florida to win (the safer pick of course), you only stand to gain 140 pts with a selection on Florida, and them winning the game. (100/330 = 31.2, as percentage of 100, or 31pts -> 131 pts total). If the game is much more even, say Virginia Tech (-140) vs. Boston College (+120), then a Boston College correct selection earns 220 pts, a VA Tech correct selection earns 100/140 -> 71% -> 71 pts -> 171 total pts. As you can see, picking solely favorites, especially heavy ones yields a slow and steady stream of pts, vs. going for large underdogs. Which is your preference?
