Rules
Format: The pool is comprised of 5 independent contests - RUNS format (2) and KNOCKOUT format (3). As each ends, the next of that type will pickup and start on a day broadcast by the commish.

 
Entry Fee / Payouts: The entry fee is $10 per contest. Each contest is a winner take all. See Money page for status of payments. Within each formats section below, there are special payout rules for the final contest of that type not concluding at the end of the MLB season.

 
RUNS FORMAT
  • Winning: The winner is the entrant whose team achieves runs scored in a game (final score value) with at least one of 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12, and 13.

  • Teams Assignment: Teams are assigned to entrants in the pool via an automatic 'snake' draft. A default order is assigned to each entrant on signup in the pool.

  • Draft Rankings: After registration, login and rank your preferences for teams. Once the first contest ends, you may edit draft rankings for the second contest at any time.

  • Draft Example: With 12 entrants in the pool, the person getting the 1st pick will get 1st and 24th pick, the person getting the 12th pick will get the 13th pick, etc.

  • Round 1 / Round 2: Round 1 runs from start of the season to a winner. Round 2 starts on approximately half way through the season (on a Monday). Each round the draft is executed the day before, and assignments will be done against your current rankings/preferences

  • No Winner: If Round 2 ends without a winner, the pot for it goes to the Round 1 winner. If there is no Round 1 winner (highly unlikely!), both pots move over to the Knockout #3 winner(s)

    KNOCKOUT FORMAT
  • Winning: The winner is the entrant left standing after all others are eliminated in that contest.

  • Series by Series: A selection is made of ONE team for each WEEKDAY series and each WEEKEND series as the year moves along.

  • Weekday vs Weekend Series: A weekend series of course always involves games from Friday, Saturday, Sunday. A weekday series always involves games on Tuesday and Wednesday. That said, the nature of the schedule is that a Thursday game could be the start of 4 game weekend series, or the end of weekday series (3 or 4 games).

  • Series Selection Deadlines: The selection of a team for a series can be made right up until the first pitch deadline of the first game of that series. This can differ by day (and time of course!) based on the series starting on Monday or Tuesday for a weekday series, also Thursday or Friday for a weekend series. The site will always preview the next few series and their deadlines. Considering putting in several series selections as contingency.

  • Advancing: Your selected team must win TWO OUT OF THE FIRST THREE games of a series for you to advance to the next series. For a FOUR games series, only the FIRST THREE completed games of that series count, including any delays or rainouts.

  • Team Selections: Within each contest, you may select a team to win a series at most TWO times. Contrast this to NFL style knockouts where you can only select a team once during the pool/contest.

  • 1-0 or 0-1 at End of Series: Should a three game series end (visitor leaves town for the next game) with your selection ahead 1 game to none (TWO rainouts), you ADVANCE (as though you had won 2 of 3). Similarily if it ends with only one game played and your team having lost, you are OUT of the contest (as though you had lost 2 of 3)

  • 1-1 at End of Series: Should rainouts / other reasons result in your selection having won one game, lost the other in a series, i.e. a tie, your advancement is not yet fully determined. The very next played game by that team (against ANY other team) is considered the tiebreaking game of the series. Example: Suppose selecting the Astros for a Fri, Sat, Sun series. They win on Friday, lose on Saturday, and Sunday is rained out. If the Sunday game is not otherwise made up on that next Monday, whoever the Astros play next (Monday or Tuesday) is the 'deciding' game of that previous weekend series.

  • Keep Making Selections! Should the '1-1' rule be in affect (see example in previous bullet), continue to make selections for the coming series (as though you won). Your selections are not 'on hold' until that previous series completes! In the previous example, the Astros next game might be on Tuesday (to decide the previous weekend series), you should of course make a selection for the coming weekday series, even if it starts on a Monday.

  • 0-0 at End of Series: As with the 1-1 finish of a series, the next games on the schedule will determine your advancement in that unplayed series.

  • End Round / Start Next Round: The commish will broadcast the exact start of the second (and third) knockout contest/round. It will typically be the NEXT SERIES (weekday or weekend) after a winner is determined in an active round.

  • No Winner: If a Knockout contest ends via the season ending, the pot is split amongst those remaining alive in that last contest/round.
