Looks like we’re still payin’ the Bill
JLee packs up, but stays in second

Despite being out-Packed by JLee for two straight weeks, defending FMNFLP champion
Bill Ellis is still in a comfortable spot for the Super Bowl.  Second-place JLee
came within 4 points of Green Bay’s 21-point victory against Seattle, and hit their
3-point loss to the Giants absolutely perfectly, but an overestimation of Romo’s
playoff focus and a drastic shift of faith in the SuperChargers has kept him outside
of legitimate range.  Bill goes into the FunkyBow with a 33-point advantage.

Robert Emerton and Kevin Sabbe didn’t make picks bold enough to even compete on 
Championship Sunday (they were eliminated at kickoff), but they can rest easy knowing
that, no matter what they picked, there was no way to catch Bill or JLee, who only
sacrificed 17 and 19 points respectively.

If JLee had shown even a little of the faith in the San Diego SuperChargers that
he showcased in the previous week, or if he hadn’t gone all-in on the Cowboys, he’d
be within realistic striking range of The Slate.  As it is, he’ll probably have 
to go for the SuperPick.  Some prognosticators have ranted on TV about how JLee 
should put a 40 on the Patriots or a 24 on the Giants, but most experts believe 
he’ll try to win The Slate with a perfect pick.  Only once has somebody nailed the
SuperPick, and that was Bill Ellis himself—when he didn’t even need it.

So JLee still has a puncher’s chance at making up for his excruciating FunkyBowl
loss a decade ago, but it doesn’t bode well that the Giants have shorter odds to
win the Superbowl.

Perhaps partly due to the lack of competition, FunkyBowl 2008 looks to draw a record-low
attendance.  There hasn’t even been a bid this year—the first time since its Las
Vegas inception.  Here at Weekly Update, however, we just got word from an inside
source that Godsey has an unorthodox idea for FunkO that he’s just about to announce.
