Z-A-C-K! ZACK ZACK ZACK!
"White Rice" sprints to the lead, wins debut
--------------------------------------------------------
Finally unleashed from The Dog (KenDoggie Vis), Zack Schwartz ran free and
ran amok and won the week in his very first effort, quite possibly the only
time this has happened in the FMNFLP since the actual first week. Showing
the breakaway speed that he used in the later days of Team Filth basketball
(and thus earning the "White Rice" moniker), Zack pegged his Jets with
a
4-spot and raced to the top spot. His career pick percentage (.750) is now
clearly the highest in the entire pool.
His fellow cohorts from the South Bay also showed well: KenDoggie
finished in 2nd, and Franzen actually won money. If the Raiders had won
Monday night, these three horses would've filled out a rather unlikely
trifecta. Money won money for the 53rd time in his life, and Eric Emerton
began his Slate defense by finishing in the Top Three for the 33rd time in
his life.
Stat of the Week:
-------------------------
You might think this was only the second time somebody has won the week in
their debut performance. Not exactly. 5 of the first 6 seasons kicked off
with rookie wins. Sabbe won his debut in 1994, Robert Snedgear won his
debut in 1995, Dave Winter won his debut in 1996, Kathy Wathy won her debut
in 1997, Tully was a rookie-hater in '98, and then Wego won his debut in
1999.
Other stats
----------------
- KenDoggie has only won the week once, but has finished in 2nd place 7
times (including this week).
- On the bright side, nice ranking: Jen Retsek missed all her picks 1-7.
Pick of the Week!
------------------------
Franzen won the first POW honor of the season with his
outrageous-yet-totally-accurate 15-spot on the RoadRavens. It is Franzen's
4th POW in his lifetime.
Kurt Schwartz, meanwhile, put a 15 on the Packers. You get a
different award for that.
If Only....
------------
- If the Raiders had won their home opener, Franzen would've won the week
(at least it was close).
- Franzen also would've won the week if the Redskins or Lions had won. If
all three had won, Franzen would've have won the week by 25 points.
- If either the Titans, Broncos, or Giants had won, Money would have won the
week.
- Kevin Sabbe would've won the week with help from the Niners or Packers.
- Schuss needed the Texans.
- KenDoggie needed the Bucs or Buff.
- If the Chiefs had won, EEEEE would've picked up where he left off.
- And if Wyatt's Dolphins had hung on, Wyatt would've won the week.
Random News:

Cal Poly's football team is now ranked #3 in the country (Div. I-AA). And
the field is being turned into a stadium. Weird....
Next Week:

Jennings' Browns at Godsey's Bengals
