Schwartz calls solo shot; repeats Week 1 win

--------------------------------------------

In Week One, his first official week in the FunkyPool, Zack Schwartz put a gutsy

4 on his Jets and burst out ahead of the pack for the weekly win. Last week, in

a repeat performance, Zack once again put a 4 on the Jets and took down the week

with relative ease. Only this time, he called his shot. On the FMNFLP ?Smackboard,?

Schwartz called out RaiderNation for their lack of pride, and then laughed that

his Jets game at New England was ?clearly an easy win for the green machine.? And

having thus pointed to the bleachers, he hit a solo shot out of the park and won

the week by a dozen points.

Meanwhile, in the overall standings, Mr. Emerton continued his steady march and

extended his lead over Kathy Wyatt and his son Eric. He now leads by 22 points,

which is pretty significant at this point in the season. And even bigger story,

however, might be the mosh pit that surrounds the playoff line. Chris Sabbe is

in 5th place, but he?s 8 points from finishing out of the playoffs in 13th place.

Fewer than 20 points separate his fifth-place standing from DOliver in 18th place.

Stats!

*****

Eric Emerton has now finished in 15th place in 4 of the past 5 weeks. He finished

18th in the other one. Somehow he?s still in 2nd place.

Diane has climbed in the standings every week since Week 4.

Jen Retsek is the only one who hasn?t won any money this year. She hasn?t finished

any higher than 10th.

Jen is 0-9 with the Jaguars.

Scott Wyatt and Eric Franzen are 9-0 with the Ravens

Jennings is 9-0 with the Seahawks

Ken Vis and BAMF are 9-0 with the Colts

Wego is 16-2 with Bay Area teams.

KenDoggie is 8-1 with the Titans and Packers

Mike Schussel and Adam Jennings are the only two with winning records on Jacksonville

(5-4).

Bill Ellis is 32-4 with the Broncos, Chargers, Vikings, and Colts

Kevin Sabbe is 16-2 with the Browns and Bucs?

As a pool, our record with just about every team is at least 50%. We are 42% at

picking Jacksonville games correctly, and 32% with Atlanta games.

Over 1800 points have been wagered on the Falcons. Only 544 of those have been

correct.

Of the 458 points wagered on the Lions to win, 37 points have been returned.

A perfect 10: JLee is 10-0 with his 10-pick.

Kevin Sabbe is 1-9 with his 5-pick.

Nobody has picked more games correctly than Jason Sullivan, who is in 11th place.

Only Mr. Emerton and Sullivan have picked more games correctly than Money, who is

in 14th place.

This is the fourth straight week with a solo shot. This has never happened in the

middle of a season. (Both 2000 and 1996 showcased solo shots at the end of their

seasons when poolsters were star-shooting).

If Only*..

Kevin Sabbe would?ve won the week if Arizona would?ve won at home.

Patrick would have (comically) won the week if the Raiders had won.

Bill Ellis would?ve conquered with a New England win (favored by 10 points).

Adam wins with the Vikings at home.

And DOliver would?ve won the week by 10 points with a home Giant win. (and he?d

be in 8th place overall).

POW!

Zack Schwartz is the tenth different poolster in ten weeks to win the POW award.

He was the only one to pick his beloved Jets (the tenth different NFL team to earn

the Pick of the Week), and for that he gets his mug on the big screen for the next

four days. He won in runaway fashion, with three more nominations than anybody

else. Technically, he only had three votes, but BAMF*still confused by the ?KenZack

Tandem? of years past*got the two of them confused.

COW was a little weird since Wyatt was nominated by the Godsey brothers for both

his Chief pick and his ?Dolphin? pick. Of course, his Dolphin didn?t really exist,

so it can?t really be nominated*and besides, when the Godsey brothers are the only

two votes, it?s really more like a vote and a half. DOliver got two nominations,

without confusion, from two different people, for a much more deserving pick*his

inexplicable full boat on the G-Men. Even ?diehard? Giant fan Scott Wyatt had words

to say about this pick.

QOW:

"I just made my next five picks for the Suicide Pool."

			-Godsey, after picking Jacksonville

"I am considering picking Jacksonville this week. Consider yourself warned."

			- Jen Retsek, now 0-9 with the Jaguars.

Next Week!

Money?s Bears at Zack?s J-E-T-S

Kevin?s Vikings at Wyatt?s Dolphins

Rivalry Week? Moving Week? We?ll see ya next week*.
