"Cowboy" Hassanali bucks 11-19 Hype, Wins Week

--------------------------------------------

Over a month ago, Patrick Godsey started the hype with an enigmatic posting

that said simply: "11-19." Nobody knew what to make of it. "I thought

it

was an old Charger-Bronco score or something," Wego admitted. Adam Jennings

thought it was a passage from Luke, or John. Once the people realized it

was the date of the upcoming Charger/Bronco game, there was still mass,

almost apocolyptic, confusion: Was it baiting? Was it provoking? Was it

simply pride? In any case, Brother Godsey drove his boat down to Patrick's

house for the game, DOliver boated it and declared it "Game of the Week,"

Zack inexplicably declared the 3-point underdogs "clear favorites," and

even

Wyatt -- for reasons he'll someday be explaining to his marriage counseler

-- put a provocative 1 on the Bolts.

But after all the hoopla, and after the historic Chargers comeback which

followed, none of the Charger backers were on top of the weekly standings.

When the dust settled, it was Robert Hassanali, with a 9 on the Broncos, who

finished on top. He followed with his first posting of the season: "How

bout them Cowboy!!!"

Indeed, how bout them cowboy? Despite his misguidied Bronco love, it

was Hassanali and his Cowboys that finished 8 points ahead of Wego and

Patrick. If told about the Godsey Brothers eating San Diego SuperSausages

and powder-blue San Diego SuperCupcakes while listening to the San Diego

SuperCharger song, "Cowboy" Hassanali might have clanged his spurs and

muttered, "Powder-blue cupcakes? Why...get a rope. Make that two ropes."

If told that SchussDaddy is pretty much the resident cowboy in the

FunkyPool, Hassanali might've clinched on his cigarette and growled: "Maybe

Schusspuppy didn't see my badge. His streak is long over. There's a new

sheriff in FunkyLand now."

As predicted here at Weekly Recap HQ, Week 11 was indeed Moving Week. Bill

Ellis moved from 13th overall to 5th. Chris Sabbe, who's been no lower than

7th since Week 2, fell to 12th. Godsey moved from 12th to 7th. Kurt moved

from 15th to 9th. JLee fell from 9th to 16th. Kevin Sabbe fell from 8th to

18th. And Mike Schussel, who had moved from 16th to 5th, and then to 12th,

and then back to 7th, fell down to 23rd overall.

But overall, Mr. Emerton continues to dominate with a 17-point lead

over his daughter-in-law Diane. Those two are almost locked into playoff

spots, just as Jenaroo, Farnsworth, and Schussel are almost eliminated from

postseason hopes. Almost everybody else is within 20 points of the playoff

line, though -- one of the most competitive packs we've seen this late in

the season.

Stats!

*****

Schussel's 44 points was the fourth fewest ever in a 16-game week.

Eric Emerton has now finished in 15th place or lower in the past 6 weeks.

Somehow he?s still in 4th place.

Diane has climbed in the standings every week since Week 4.

Jen Retsek is the only one who hasn?t won any money this year. She hasn?t

finished any higher than 10th.

Jen is 0-10 with the Jaguars.

Scott Wyatt and Eric Franzen are 10-0 with the Ravens

Jennings finally lost with the Seahawks

Ken Vis and BAMF finally lost with the Colts

Wego is 18-2 with Bay Area teams (he picked the Niners over the Seahawks).

KenDoggie is 9-1 with the Packers

Adam Jennings is the only player with a winning record on Jacksonville

(6-4).

Bill Ellis was 32-4 with the Broncos, Chargers, Vikings, and Colts. He lost

this week with the Colts, Chargers, and Broncos, still won money.

Kevin Sabbe was 16-2 with the Browns and Bucs. He lost with both this week.

Of the 494 points wagered on the Lions to win, 37 points have been returned.

JLee is 11-0 with his 10-pick.

Kevin Sabbe is 1-10 with his 5-pick.

Nobody has picked more games correctly than Jason Sullivan, who is in 11th

place.

This is the fifth straight week with a solo shot. This has never happened.

It's a new FunkyRecord.

It is Kevin Sabbe's 10th career solo shot, second only to Sullivan and

Godsey on the all-time list.

With the exception of Jenaroo, JLee has picked the fewest games right of

anybody in the pool. But he is 9 points off the playoff line.

Ken Vis has picked as many games right as Robert Emerton, but he's still

wouldn't make the playoffs if they started today.

If Only...

Diane would?ve won the week if Seattle could've beat the Niners.

Farnsworth would have won the week if the Rams had won.

Wego would?ve conquered with a Texan win. (One diving catch away)

Wego also wins with the Packers or Jets, both at home.

Godsey wins with an Atlanta win.

And BAMF wins with an Indy or Viking win.

POW!

Godseys earned 6 of the 8 POW nominations, and Patrick tallied 5 of them on

his own. And rightfully so: His prediction of the Chargers winning at

Invesco (which they never had) a month beforehand reminds us of when his

brother picked Cal to beat Duke in the NCAA tournament in the middle of the

season. It is BAMF's 2nd POW in 3 weeks, and his 10th overall.

The Clown Pick of 11-19 was Farnsworth's Giant pick, winning a tight race

between 7 different nominations. It is his 11 and a halfth COW. Is that 23

floppy shoes then?

Next Week!

Money's Bears at Sully's Pats

Scott's Giants at Godsey's Titans

And Raider Nation at the BAMF-Dome.

(Remember picks are due before the Thanksgiving games)
