Fuuuuuuum-bull! Godsey coughs up big lead
Kathy wins the week as the Wyatts, Emertons keep charging
-------------------
It isn’t that Mike Godsey has suddenly stopped going to church, but it’s something like that. Godsey, who in 2001 was propelled to a championship by 5 weekly wins that correlated with 5 trips to church, broke up with his church-going, God-fearing girlfriend last Sunday. After he hugged her goodbye, he walked over to his computer to see the Chargers losing to the Chiefs, and his 12-week streak of Top 10 finishes was snapped a hour later. Eight days after that--today--his considerable lead has officially gone straight to hell. Diane Emerton has tied him for the overall lead, The Godfather is about a dozen out, and the turbo-boosting Scott Wyatt is just about 16 out. Eric Emerton is still hanging in there, and suddenly Wego, Speed Racer, Money, and even Kathy Wathy are back in the race.
Since giving birth to a boy, Kathy has now finished in the Top 6 for three straight weeks, while her brother-in-law Scott has finished 1st, 1st, and 3rd. It is the 15th career weekly win for Kathy, tying her for third on the all-time list with Money Retsek and Eric Emerton. Hoping for merely a playoff spot just a few weeks ago, Kathy is now just 42 points off the pace, well within range of the Slate. Good times.

Stats and Observations
------------------
Kathy’s 6 on her Broncos was the second solo shot of her life, the first being a onesie on the Bengals back in 2003.

Kathy’s solo shot marks the first time in 84 weeks that ANY Wyatt has made a correct pick that nobody else did.

Bill Ellis has not finished in last place for 100 straight weeks.

For 100 straight weeks, no Emerton picks have been selected for COW.

Despite his successful full boat on his Jets, it has been an entire season (17 weeks) since Zack Schwartz has won any money, which is the 6th longest streak in the history of this pool.

Money is 11-0 with his 9-pick.

Wego is 11-0 with his 11-pick.

Mike Godsey is 20-0 on games involving Detroit or Houston.

Kurt Schwartz is 1-8 with the Browns.

DOliver is 4-16 with the Broncos and Dolphins.

Kevin Sabbe is 1-9 with the Titans.

If Only....
----------
(Sorry folks, “If Only” is canceled this week due to the stupid tie.)

Just Saying...
----------
We know that nobody really wants to talk about the Chargers at all, and we know that rarely does this pool feel it appropriate to talk smack about somebody’s team, but the Chargers are one of the most makefunable teams of the decade. This week, if somebody cared to do it, it might sound something like this:
“For all the stupid things Charger fans say about the possibility of rigged games (to distract us from how much their team is overrated--and sucks), they were just in a game where the penalties were in their favor 14-1, and their only touchdown was because of the worst P.I. call of the season, and the refs inexplicably took a TD for the other team off the board only to immediately apologize that they “looked at the wrong pass.” 66 million dollars was bet on the Steelers (-5), while only 34 million was bet on the Chargers. In other words, the Chargers can’t win a game rigged in their favor. If you ignorantly believe in rigged games, like some Charger fans do.”

Go Mustangs?
-------------
We were on the sideline this Saturday to watch the Cal Poly Mustangs (8-1) win their conference, win the Golden Horseshoe, and clinch a playoff berth by crushing UC Davis. And by the way, they’re pretty awesome. They’re really small, but they run this crazy double-wing option which is super-fun, the quarterback is none other than Godsey’s old shortstop Jon Dally, and their receiver (6’5”, 240?) is probably going to be an early second-round NFL pick (just broke Rice’s record for most consecutive games with a TD). They play the Wiz at Wisconsin this week, and you may keep an eye on that score.

Pick the Pick of the Week!
-----------------
The polls are now open for POW and COW. The way the participation has been lately, if you vote soon enough, you made get to be King and Emperor and President of POW and COW.

Next week!
-----------
Schuss’s Texans at Adam’s Browns (a case of beer, maybe?)
Money Retsek’s Bears at Jen Retsek’s Rams
Scott Wyatt’s Giants at Tully Wyatt’s Cardinals
Raider Nation at Kathy’s Broncos

Plus, we suspect next week might be Moving Week. We’ll see.

See ya than...
