A River Runs Through It? Don’t call it “The Comebacks”?
Younger Sabbe keeps writing Hollywood ending, Wins Week 12
----------------------------------------------------------
Different as the young journalist Brad Pitt and his smartly dressed brother in “A
River Runs Through It,” the Sabbe brothers have now combined for two straight weekly
wins, but it’s the young screenwriter Kevin who is grabbing top billing lately.
Picking up 66 points on Bill Ellis in just 3 weeks, Kevin has gone from an also-ran
in 14th place to a contender in 5th.
He did it this week with some good old-fashioned Bay Area Pride. Kevin
was the only one to pick the Niners and, while Raider Nation generally declined
to make the trip to Kansas City, was one of only three poolsters to pick the Raiders.
Meanwhile, after an astounding 16 weeks without finishing below 14th place
in any week, Bill Ellis has now done so in 2 out of the past 3 weeks. He has officially
lost grip of his stranglehold (Hassanali was 96 points back in 4th place) and has
to be happy with his current “comfortable lead” (Scott is 98 points back in 9th
place). Jenaroo, JLee, and Farnsworth are now all within 50 points.
And on the other side of the tracks, we’re about to announce that certain
players are laughamatically eliminated (tm). Mike Godsey, Kurt Schwartz, and Money
Retsek are all over 185 points off the pace and, even with a KSabbe-like run at
the playoff line, would probably still fall short.

Stats and Observations:

- For many years, Money Retsek dominated the pool in terms of all-time win percentage
(at .684 now). Bill Ellis has finally caught him (.685) and the ultra-steady Robert
Hassanali is right behind him (.683).

- Kevin Sabbe’s tight-fitting onesie on the Niners was his 3rd solo shot of the
year, with 3 different teams. He now has 13 in his career, more than any active
player. The now-retired Jason Sullivan also had 13.

- With one minor exception (Jen was in 4th for one week), Banker Bill, Jenaroo,
and JLee have occupied the top 3 spots since Week 4.

- It is the 18th time that Godsey has finished in last place, tying Jennings for
2nd on the all-time list. Franzen still owns the “top” spot.

- In 1/3 of the weeks this season, a Godsey has finished in last place.

- Bill Ellis is 51-4 with his picks of 11 or higher.

- Diane is still undefeated with the Colts.

- "Cowboy" Hassnali is 11-0 on Cowboy games.

- Godsey is still undefeated with the Bills.

- As a pool, while we have won about 800 points on Saint games, we have lost around
1100.

- The pool has won more points on Patriot wins than on wins by the Lions, Cardinals,
Falcons, Dolphins, Bills, Panthers, Bengals, Texans, Chiefs, Raiders, Jets, and
Vikings combined.

- More points have been wagered against the Patriots than against the Steelers.

- Hassanali is 53-2 in games involving the Ravens, Falcons, Patriots, Colts, or
Dolphins.

- Jennings is 2-9 in games involving the Lions.

- KenDoggie is 6-16 in games involving the Chiefs or Bears.

- Zack Schwartz is 12-31 in games involving the Jets, Bengals, Redskins, or Eagles.

If Only…
-------------
- If Farnsworth had picked his Raiders, he would’ve won the week, and he’d be in
2nd place overall.

- If JLee had used his 13 on his Niners instead of against them, he’d be 32 points
behind Bill Ellis instead of 45.

- Patrick would’ve won the week with a Jon Kitna experience.

- Farnsworth would’ve won the week with a Buffalo or Cardinal win. Or a Raider
loss.

Pick of the Week!
---------------------
Franzen got some rare love from FunkNation, who was excited by his dime on the Vikes.
It is the 5th time in his life that he has received such an award.

The people were not so thrilled with Godsey’s continued infatuation with the Dirty
Birds and/or hatred of the Mannings. In anger and malice, they threw a clown suit
at him and told him to wear it. It is the 14th time this has happened—nobody in
the world owns so many rainbow wigs. Not even Bozo.

More Godseys!
------------------
Since Thanksgiving Day, there is now 15 more pounds of Godsey in the world, almost
9 pounds of which is in the form of Jackson Hunter Godsey, son of Patrick and Brenna.
Born a week after scheduled, Jack is big, healthy, active, and allegedly already
using words—no surprise to those who know the Godseys. A day after coming home
on Thanksgiving, he reportedly giggled and said something that sounded like “Gates”
before burping, giggling some more, and then asking “Why didn’t Sabbe pick the Raiders?
I don’t get it.” He also likes nipples, and sleeping in the afternoons.

Next Week!
--------------
Kathy’s Broncos at RaiderNation!
Godsey’s Lions at Kevin’s Vikings

Also:
EliNation at Money’s Bears
Zack’s Jets at Kurt’s Dolphins
JLee’s Niners at Emerton’s Panthers

See ya then....
