Zack sprints to the top, breaks long streak along with Jets

--------------------

Both Z-A-C-K and his J-E-T-S broke impressive streaks on Sunday as the football team finally gave the Titans their first loss and the football fan won money for the first time in a year. After 17 consecutive weeks of missing the money, Z-Schwartz obliterated the league by winning the entire week even before the Sunday night game. Just one week after sitting 28 points out of the playoffs, the state-class sprinter beat everyone but Kevin Sabbe by at least 11 points. He picked up almost 30 points on the average poolster, and he gained 55 points on WegoAndmiss10gamesinasingleweek to take his playoff spot.

On the overall leaderboard, meanwhile, Mike Godsey recovered his own fumble, got back together with the congregation-leading, God-fearing Melissa, and finished in the money again. He held off a TORRID Scott Wyatt for another week, pushed Eric and Robert Emerton back another 13 points, and dunked former co-leader Diane Emerton back a solid 20 points. He also crushed playoff-contending Bill Ellis, Money Retsek, and Keith Wengronowitz by 27, 38, and 44 points respectively, knocking each of them outside the playoff cut for now.

Stats and observations

---------------

In just three years in the pool, Zack has won the week as many times (3) as Kurt Schwartz has in 7 years, and Eric Franzen in 8 years.

Zack has never finished in 2nd or 3rd place. All or nothing.

After finishing out of the money for the first 8 weeks, Scott Wyatt has finished in the Top 3 for the past four consecutive weeks, gaining a total of 46 points on the pace.

In 9 years in the pool, Wego had finished in last place only once. He's now finished in last place twice in the past 8 weeks.

Chris Sabbe is 1-4 with his 15-picks.

Money is 12-0 with his 9-picks. He is 4-5 with his 16- and 15-picks.

It has been 144 weeks since Scott or Tully Wyatt has made a correct pick that nobody else did too.

If Only...

----------

If the Bengals had won, Kevin Sabbe would've won the week by 14 points. He also wins with an Eagle win.

If the Browns or Dolphins had won (at home), Scott Wyatt would've won the week for the 3rd time in 4 weeks.

If the Lions had held on (up 17-0) at home, Chris Sabbe would've won the week.

If the JAX or Zona had won (at home), DO goes home with the crown.

"Cowboy" Hassanali would've won the week if the Chiefs had held on (at home).

If the Jets had lost, Zack would've lost, and Mike Godsey would've won the week.

Chris Sabbe would have won the week if he had put his 15 on "his" Raiders instead of his "hated" Broncos.

If Wego had just reversed every one of his picks, he's still be in the playoffs. If he had reversed all of his picks and also reversed the order of them, he would've finished in 9th place for the week.

San Luis Obispo proud/embarrassed of their Mustangs

------------------------

So if you listened to the Weekly Update last week and bet on the Cal Poly Mustangs, good for you. You made bit of money. Our small-town kids went to the Big 12 and took on Wisconsin in their house and almost took them down. Up 20-7 in the first half, they missed three extra points before losing in OT by a single point. That's right: 3 extra points. According to Coach Iversen, Cal Poly actually carries 3 kickers on their team--one for kickoffs, one for field goals, and one for extra points. That's right: that's his only job, to kick extra points. He missed three of them. The good news is they're now hosting a playoff game this Saturday, and they're pretty awesome when they don't have to kick it.

Wego's cousin is crazy

--------------

We're going to spare you the details that you probably don't care about, but Wego's cousin is playing for the Illinois state championship this Saturday, and he's looking to break the state record for touchdowns. Right now, he's sitting on 46 touchdowns in 13 games (57 touchdowns his junior and sophomore year combined). Just so you know.

POW/COW

Not enough votes yet to really call a winner, but we'll do it ourselves if we have to. Polls close in a day.
