The Godfather Returns: Robert wins Week 13; approaches Slate
--------------------------------
Enough talk about the Sabbes and Wyatts dominating the deep end; the Emertons aren’t
out of the pool yet. On Monday night, Mr. Emerton held on to a weekly win and flagged
down 6th place overall, and suddenly he finds himself a workable 75 points off the
pace. On a smaller scale, Diane Emerton finished just 3 points out of the money,
and now finds herself just 21 points from the playoff line.
Meanwhile, after collecting deposits in 7 of the first 8 weeks of the season,
Banker Bill has now failed to collect any interest for 5 consecutive weeks. Despite
Bill’s respectable 8th place showing, JLee picked up another dime on the pace and
now sits just 35 points away. Likewise, Kevin Sabbe continued his unlikely run
and picked up another 7 points on the leader. If Jen Retsek hadn’t clicked the
wrong helmet for Monday night’s no-brainer, she too would be within 31 points.
On the other side of the pond, the strugglers continue to struggle. Adam
Jennings “shot his wad” during the 13th week in order to find out whether he was
making a run at the Slate or a run at the playoff line. He might be doing neither
after losing 52 points to 12th place Sabbe. In similar fashion, Kathy Wyatt missed
4 of her top 7 picks, dropped 25 points to Sabbe, and now might be considered “laughamatically
eliminated” ™ from playoff contention. DOliver and Patrick Godsey finished 22nd
and 23rd to pretty much end their season, but at least they submitted picks—unlike
Eric Franzen who dropped 40 points closer to Money’s basement.

Stats and Observations:

- With one minor exception (Jen was in 4th for one week), Banker Bill, Jenaroo,
and JLee have occupied the top 3 spots since Week 4.

- Just one week after Godsey finished in last place to tie Jennings for 2nd on the
all-time list with 18, Jennings finished in last place himself. The only man saving
him from the dishonorable credit was Franzen, who failed to make picks, and now
has 21 last place finishes to his name.

- Bill Ellis is 56-5 with his picks of 11 or higher.

- Diane is still undefeated with the Colts.

- "Cowboy" Hassnali is still undefeated with the Cowboys.

- Godsey is still undefeated with the Bills.

- Hassanali is 57-3 in games involving the Ravens, Falcons, Patriots, Cowboys, or
Dolphins.

- Zack Schwartz is 13-34 in games involving the Jets, Bengals, Redskins, or Eagles.
This week he lost 22 points on them.

In only…
------------
If only his Pack had won, Bill would be winning the pool by 55 points.

If the Ravens had held on, Jen Retsek would’ve won the week for the first time in
60 weeks, and she would’ve been 15 points out of first place overall.

If the Falcons hadn’t dropped a pass, JLee might’ve won the pool for the first time
in 62 weeks, and he’d be just 27 points out of first.

With a win by the Saints, Jaguars, or Lions, KenDoggie would’ve won for the first
time since his second week in the pool, 79 weeks ago. Or if he had put more than
5 on his Raider Pride.

Scott Wyatt wins with the Texans or Bengals or Packers or Chiefs. Or Eagles. Or
the Broncos over the Raiders.

Kevin Sabbe wins his second straight week with a Niner or Bear victory.

Pick of the Week!
--------------------
There were a wide range of nominations, but Scott Farnsworth was honored for his
big points on the Browns, and Jennings was given the polka-dotted suit of shame
for his efforts.

Next Week!
--------------
Bill Ellis gave the pack a chance with a few dots on the Bears, but nobody but Schuss,
Sabbe, and Godsey really took advantage. Overall, it looks like the leader is layin’
low this week with just a thousand dots overall.

Since JLee has even fewer, he’s unlikely to make much of a move this weekend.

“Hollywood” Kevin Sabbe (2300 dots) is continuing to push it down the home stretch,
but he’s already stumbled with 300 dots on the Bears.

Rivalries to look forward to:
Bill Ellis’ and RaiderNation’s Packers at Franzen’s Raiders!
Adam’s Browns at Zack’s Jets
