K-Dub Bounces Back, Wins Week 15

Playoff picture still packed at finish of "regular" season

---------------------------------------------

In yet another fabulous twist to a fabulous season, Kathy Walser followed

one of the most felonious freefalls in FunkHistory with a 2nd place finish

in Week 14, and the outright tiara in Week 15. With the successes, Kathy

has bounced all the way back up to 14th, with JLee's playoff spot just 4

points from her hungry little hands.

With just two weeks left, the playoff picture is *finally* starting to

take some kind of shape(s). Kathy and Tully Wyatt are both within 4 points

of the playoff line, and Kurt Schwartz and JLee are both within 3 points of

missing the playoffs. Ahead of them, there is a slight bit of separation

before *seven* poolsters are packed between 26-32 points off the pace.

Above them, only Bill Ellis and Robert Hassanali are within certifiable

range of the leader, Robert Emerton, who still leads by 15.

All of this is just technically speaking, however, and if the first 15

weeks are any indication, we don't know anything yet. Those aforementioned

"packs" are only slightly separated, and a historic 14 players are still

within 51 points of the Slate. And the standings are further destabilized

by the upcoming two weeks, the last two of the "regular" season, which

are

often anything but regular.

In other news, Jenaroo *finally* picked a Jacksonville game correctly,

putting her at 1-13 for the season. Until Dallas goes 13-0, we don't see

this record ever being broken.

And Eric Franzen failed to make his picks by the deadline, which is

unfortunate since Kevin Sabbe managed just 27 points, setting a record for

futility in a 16-game week. Kevin actually started the week in 1st place

after his 13 points on the Niners came through on Thursday night, but he

only tabbed 4 of the next 15 games correctly, finishing 75 points behind

Kathy, the 4th largest margin in the history of 16-game weeks.

Stats!

*****

This was K-Dub's 12th career weekly win, moving into an impressive 6th on

the all-time list.

Kathy is 5th only to Eric Emerton, Mike Godsey, Money Retsek, and Kevin

Sabbe on the all-time "Weekly Wins per year" list (min: 2 years).

The Godsey brothers went the first 8 weeks without winning any money. They

have won money in all 7 weeks since then.

For 5 straight weeks (and 6 of 7), Diane finished in the top 10. Then in

her last three weeks, she's finished 19th, 20th, and 21st.

5 weeks ago, "Cowboy" Hassanali was in 22nd place, and Bill Ellis was

in

13th place. They are now in 3rd and 2nd place, respectively.

Hassanali has finished in the Top 7 for five straight weeks now.

Kevin Sabbe hasn't finished better than 22nd place for 5 straight weeks now.

Everyone in the pool has finished 20th or worse in at least one week.

Everyone but three of us have finished 3rd or better in at least one week.

It has been 115 weeks since Wego has finished in last place.

It has been 81 weeks since Kurt Schwartz has won the week.

Eric Franzen was 72 points off the pace two weeks ago. He is now 158 points

out of first place.

Jen Retsek won money! Two weeks ago she missed by a tiebreaker. Last week

she missed by one point. This week she finished in 5th place, and actually

has a gunner's shot at the playoffs.

Adam Jennings (9-5) is the only poolster with a winning record on Atlanta.

Of the 577 points wagered on the Lions to win, 37 points have been returned.

Most popular team to hate on: 3122 points have been wagered on the Browns to

lose.

Best team to hate on: Of the 3016 points wagered on the Raiders, 2669 points

were returned (88%). More points have been bet on the Raiders to lose than

the Chargers (or Indy) to win.

Worst team to hate on: Only 14% of the points bet on the Patriots have been

returned. People picking against the Patriots have gone 12-51.

JLee is 1-14 with his 3-pick. If he had gotten his 3-pick correct this

week, he would've won the week.

Farnsworth is 4-11 with his 10-pick. If he had gotten his 10-pick correct

this week, he would've won the week.

Tully Wyatt is 13-0 with his 14-pick.

Zack Schwartz is the only one undefeated with both his 16- and 15-picks.

Kevin Sabbe, when he picks them, is picking less than half of his games

wrong.

If Only...

If the Chiefs had won, Adam would've won the week.

If Zona had won, Farnsworth would've won his second straight week.

If the Saints had beat the Skins at home, JLee would've won the week.

Or if the Jag had beaten the Titans, JLee would've won the week.

Or if the Seahawks had beaten the Niners at home, JLee wins. That's brutal.

If Carolina had won, Wego takes the week.

And if the Raiders had won, JLee would've....never mind.

If the Giants had won, Mr. Emerton would be beating everybody but Bill by at

least 31 points.

If the Cardinals and Vikings had won, Robert Hassanali would be leading the

pool overall.

POW!

The people were impressed with Kurt's dime on the Bill. That gutsy pick was

a big reason why he's on the right side of the playoff line for now, and 3

different people nominated it. It is Kurt's 2nd POW in 3 weeks, after going

an entire career without the honor.

While Sabbe has to make a move somehow, the people didn't agree that he

should try to do this with the Giants. He doesn't even have NY radio to

blame. It is Sabbe's 11 and a halfth COW, passing Godsey on the all-time

list, placing himself 2nd only to Farnsworth. Sabbe has still never won a

Pick of the Week.

Next Week!

Kevin's Vikes at Bill's Pack

Godsey and Wyatt's Saints at Mr. Emerton's Giants

Zack's Jets at the Dolphins.

Will the Wyatts rush the playoff line or lurk for one more week?

Will Wyatt and Godsey attack with their Saints? Will Emerton defend his

Giants?

You know Sullivan will bomb from long range (he's only 11 out) -- will he

connect?

What kind of long-range skills will D.Oliver, Sabbe, and Scott Wyatt show?

Remember when KenDoggie was dominating this pool?

What kind of funky madness is Jennings going to bring to the playoff rush?

Remember when Angela Sabbe was in this pool? She was so hot.

Can Kurt and JLee defend themselves from all those gunners?

Or are they gonna make their own move at the Slate?

Who's going to make a move from that nasty 26-32 pack?

Is Diane going to grab something on the way down or is she just enjoying her

freefall?

Will the Cowboy keep charging?

Will the old guys (#1 and #3 in lowest dots last week) keep chilling?

Who's going to be naughty? Who's going to be naughtier?

FIND OUT NEXT WEEK!!
