WHO'S GOT THE BELT NOW, BITCHES?
Godsey wins another week; remains irrelevant
----------------------
There was once a day, long ago, when "The Man" owned this pool. He
won 5 weeks in one season, he was calling his shots, he had the
all-time lead in Weekly Wins, he had the Slate, and he had JLee
kissing his bare ass. But oh how the mouthy have fallen. He has gone
54 weeks without a Weekly Win and had only won four dollars in 2007.
Earlier this week, however, Godsey pulled Don Coryell out of
retirement and signed him as his Offensive Coordinator, and the move
paid immediate dividends. Air Coryell's 10-spot on the Bears smashed
the Packers and pulled down over 400 dots; his 12-pack on the Eagles
correctly tabbed an easy win for Philly; and his little 4-spot on the
Niners nailed a close win in San Francisco. In just those three
games, Godsey won almost as many dots as the league leaders each *gambled*
all weekend. As a result, the week was won even before Godsey could
unwrap his full boat on Christmas Eve.
Godsey, who has always been excessively proud of his "Weekly
Win title" now has one more notch on his bedpost. He has 19 Weekly
Wins, while nobody else has more than 15.
Meanwhile, back in the real world, Bill Ellis continued to set
the steady pace--despite losing his full Packer boat, he still
finished in the middle of the pack and retained his stranglehold on
the league. JLee took a moderate risk with a low Packer pick, and he
made a moderate gain of nine points to crawl within 45 points. Jen
Retsek took very few risks, and she slipped 3 points off the pace.
The Godfather, Mr. Emerton, continued his late heat (6th place this
week) but he's probably still too far out to make a playoff impact.
Farnsworth took some chances, but finished 23rd for the week, dropping
him into playoff obscurity.
Like Bill Ellis at the major league level, Chris Sabbe also
kept his grip on the final playoff spot. By finishing 7th place for
the week, he virtually secured an invite to the postseason party.
With Bill Ellis dominating the top, and the playoff scene set like a
Christmas tableau, this is frankly the most boring final week in
modern history in both the NFL and the FMNFLP. Unless somebody from
the front pack tries to make a move during an always-instable Week 17 (which is
unlikely), we have very little to watch except a few teams make some
minor moves for playoff positioning. The only actual suspense may
come from Wego (and maybe E) taking one last hail mary at Sabbe and
KenDoggie. Thank God that Chuck Liddell is fighting this weekend, or
we would have nothing to do with our lives.

Stats and Observations:
- With one minor exception (Jen was in 4th for one week), Banker Bill, Jenaroo,
and JLee have occupied the top 3 spots since Week 4.
- Bill Ellis is 71-8 with his picks of 11 or higher.
- Hassanali is still 15-0 with the Dolphins.
- Hassanali is 70-5 in games involving the Ravens, Falcons, Patriots,
Cowboys, or Dolphins.
-Money is 19-41 with his 1-4 picks.
- Jen was 14-0 with her 13-picks this season. This week she picked
the Bucs, so nobody will go 16-0 with any of their top picks.
In only…
---------
If the Bills had held onto their 14-0 lead at home against Eli
Manning, Mike Godsey would've had a perfect week.
If the Texans had won, Godsey would've won the week by 24 points. And
still been Laughamatically Eliminated (tm) (you never get off that
list).
Hassanali would've won the week if the Packers had won. And Bill
would be leading the pack by 60 points.
If the Saints had won (at home) (with a playoff spot on the line), E
would've won the week and been within 31 points of the playoff line.
POW!

So far, two people have voted.
So polls will stay open for another day or two. Get there.
Next week!
-------------
Wego makes a rush at the playoff line.
Everyone else rests their starters and waits for the playoffs.

Merry Christmas everyone…
