2025 FunkyDome Memorial NFL Pool

Banker Bill makes another deposit – on your head
Interest rates flag as Ellis continues torrid rush
------------------------------
In his first nine years in the pool, Bill Ellis had won exactly two weekly championships.
He once went 87 weeks without a win—third on the all-time list of futility. Then,
starting in Week 17 of last season, “Banker Bill” has won 4 of the past 5 weeks,
plus had the best score in both the divisional playoffs and the conference championships.
And he won a Slate. And the week he didn’t win? Second place.
It might be more fantastic if it wasn’t so tragic. It was funny when 4-time
champion Eric Emerton was already 100 points out in Week 3, but now there are NINE
poolsters below the Hundy Line, their homes almost completely foreclosed after just
four weeks. JLee is a distant 2nd place at 39 points out, and everyone else is
at least 50 points off the pace.
On the positive side, Mr. Ellis is on the verge of one of the hottest streaks
in the history of FMNFLP. He has cashed in 5 straight weeks (the record is 7),
he has won 2 straight weeks (the record is 3), and he is the only one to ever finish
1st or 2nd for 5 straight weeks. Mike Godsey once claimed that his record of 5
weekly wins in one season was “unbeatable” but Bill is on pace for 12 weekly wins
in 2007. Plus his Packers are 4-0 and the major reason he is almost guaranteed
a chance to return to the FunkyBowl.
Meanwhile, the mood is not so cheerful in San Diego, where the Chargers
looked like ass, the Padres were devastated in extra innings after a woeful late-season
collapse, a Godsey was denied a weekly win by yet another Patriot trampling, and
the other Godsey finished in the weekly basement—which put him in the yearly basement.
We’re still waiting for Holliday to touch the plate, but does it really matter?
Perhaps there’s bliss in knowing that the basement is just about the only thing
that Bill doesn’t own.

Stats and Observations:
----------------------------
- With his picks of 11 or higher, Bill Ellis is 22-0.

- Ellis has made exactly twice as much money over the past 4 weeks as Eric Franzen
has made over the past 4 weeks and 2 years.

- As a pool, we are below 50% with our 10- and 9-picks. We are shooting 62% with
our 5-pick.

- We are shooting 27% in games involving the Redskins.

- It is the 8th time Patrick Godsey has finished in last place, tying him for 10th
on the all-time list with Diane Emerton.

- It is The Whore’s 71st all-time money finish, extending his all-time lead.

- It has been 87 weeks since Kurt Schwartz won the week, about to pass Bill Ellis
for third on that dubious all-time list.

- Robert Emerton won money in 5 of the first 9 weeks of 2006, and was in first place
overall. In the 12 weeks since then, he has failed to cash one time.

- JLee cashed for the 63nd time of his life, passing Eric Emerton for 3rd on the
all-time list.
