2025 FunkyDome Memorial NFL Pool

For this weekly recap I expect plenty of criticism not unlike a substitute teacher filling in for a day.

Week 5 of the NFL season provides us with two 5 - 0 teams and two FunkyDomers with a perfect week with their picks.

Congrats to Money and Wego!

It is Money's second perfect week (I think, I didn't go back and check stats. It's the substitute thing.)

Almost all Domers played it safe in week five. The average GDI was only 1140 with a high of 1632 by EF thanks to his loyalty to the Raiders. KW was the only other Domer that had a GDI over 1600 thanks to her 327 dots on Denver and 380 dots on the Jets. This provided for a close race in the weekly standings, with the top 6 only separated by 3 points and the whole pool separated by only 25.

While the weekly point difference was not all that wide, EE did widen his lead at the top spot from 4 points over DO to 15 points over JL.

Moving up:

JL from 5 to 2

RE from 8 to 3

DR from 11 to 5

TW from 10 to 7

BE from 14 to 11

DE from 18 to 16

WE from 19 to 12

JR from 22 to 21

ZS from 23 to 19

Moving down:

DO from 2 to 8

KV from 3 to 9

EF from 7 to 13

SW from 9 to 10

AJ from 12 to 15

KZ from 13 to 14

MS from 15 to 20

MG from 16 to 17

KS from 17 to 18

PG from 20 to 23

RH from 21 to 22

Those of you not listed stayed put.

An update of the ?Battle of the Brothers'

The Sabbes have the highest representative in the seasonal standings but the Wyatts have two players in the playoff picture. Where are the Godsey Brothers? Well you must look below the cut-off line for the playoffs to find one teaching English and the other drowning in his own drool brought on by the adequate play of P. Rivers.

There were two swings at solo shots in week 5, AJ's 1 on Cleveland and CS's 1 on Buffalo. The result was as productive as A-Rod in the playoffs.

Weeks since (longest active):

Finishing in the money - 10 by JR

Since finishing first - 85 by BE

Since finishing last - 105 by WE - this could be in jeopardy if the trend of first place finishers continues. The best finish this year in the week following a weekly win is 19.

EE finishes in the money once again giving him three for the season, tying him with both BE & KV

A useless note since teachers seem to be a hot topic this week:

Of the Domers that I know are teachers (JL, DR, JR, MG, AJ), only two of them are in the playoff picture after 5 weeks.

Those who have yet to finish in the money this year are: MG, DE, PG, JS & SF

Those that could've won the week if only. . .

BUF d. CHI - CS

GB d. STL - TW

ARI d. KC - RE this would've given him a perfect week

NYJ d. JAX - KW

PIT d. SD - EE this would've given him another perfect week

BAL d. DEN - JL this would've given him the perfect week

Now that the season is more than 25% complete, the odds makers have a better handle on the point spreads of the games. This is evident by 6 of the 7 lowest average weekly GDI holders now occupying playoff spots. After week 1, only three of the lowest GDI holders were in the playoff picture. Weeks 2 and 3 had four, and week 4 had five in the playoffs.

Oddly enough, or maybe not really, the lowest GDI average holder is PG and he is nowhere near the playoff picture. I attribute this to him being a bad data point and can be thrown out of the data pool. After all, doesn't he hold the all-time record for most weeks not finishing in first?

So to help those out who normally do not use the odds-maker's picks, I have listed the point spreads below from www.footballlocks.com as of Wednesday evening.

In week 6 we have:

Funky's Fish at Zack's J-E-T-S (yes I know Tully is sporting a Saints Helmet - I think it is just to irritate Mr. Godsey)

Pat & Wego's Bolts at JLee's and RH's Niners

And of course The Raider Nation at KDub's Geldings

Well, that is about all I have this week. Seeing that I am the substitute, there is no homework for any of you this week!

Oh, one more thing. Wego, if you are going to respond to my post, maybe you should respond within the topic where I posted. Also, if you are going to respond by telling me how many teachers you are related to (5), at least come up with more than what I have(13).
