Merry Poolsters: Sorry for the tardiness of the Recap. Brutal week of
school. In an effort for redemption, we attempt a stab at writing in
alliterative verse (Beowulf-style).
Sabbe adds to his living history, wins 16th
Godsey takes overall lead
-------------------
Ho!
The week was all but won by SchussDaddy
His bottles bubbled, bursting for celebration
But the Browns, they beat the odds
Crushed common sense, killed his hopes
Flattened the fizz, flayed his faith
And Sabbe suddenly was seen in the night
In the darkness deep, dancing in the blackness
Where the Black Hole houses his heart
A heart in name only, numbing our senses
Which fear the harlot, who harrows consciousness.
YouÕve heard the history of The WhoreÕs fame
Shooting from the baseline, and banking it in
Banging brunettes to borrow their car
The hooker hollers his uhn! and haunts our soul
The slut putts from the fairway, famously proud
With heathen hilarity, the harlot holes it from forty.
Bedecked in salmon, the strumpet auctions his friends
Selling handicapped boys, while buying himself.
We recall the debauchee, discovering a grand
He finds on the ground, grinning with delight
He drinks down the cider, saved for three years
He secures his first slate, with only six of us there
And now the sixteenth success of the streetwalkerÕs life
The trollop touts himself, toots his glory
For the seventy-fifth time, finishes fat in the money.
The slut sneaks into sixth, just seventeen out
Sucks down tart cider, celebrating our loss
And all with an almighty Unh! in our face.
Stats and Observations
---------------------
- Sabbe leads the league with 75 career money finishes. He is also
tied on the top of the list of most ÒTop 2Ó finishes (with 30). He is
second on the list for all-time weekly wins.
- We forgot to mention last week that Sabbe had a solo shot last week
-- a Ò1Ó on the Falcons. A solo shot with the tiniest pick is
something that we like to call ÒonesiesÓ and Sabbe definitely leads
the league in that category.
- The two oldest players in the pool, The Godfather and Banker Bill,
are tied for the best all-time picking percentage at 68.7%. The three
youngest are all in the Bottom Ten of this category, and Franzen
(third-youngest) is in the basement (59%).
- The Wyatt Brothers are broke for the year, and the Wyatt woman
hasnÕt won a dime since the first week.
- ItÕs been 138 weeks since either Wyatt Brother has hit a solo shot
(Scott hit one in 2000).
After winning Week 2, KenDoggie has fallen in the standings in each
and every week since.
JLee hasnÕt finished better than 10th all season, yet heÕs just 21
points off the playoff line and still alive in the Suicide Pool.
- ItÕs been 82 weeks since JLee or Franzen has won the week.
- ItÕs been 13 weeks since DOliver has won any money.
ItÕs been 95 weeks since Banker Bill has finished in last place.
Diane Emerton is 15-0 in games including the Titans, Ravens, or Lions.
Adam Jennings is 0-5 with the Redskins, and 2-8 with the Jaguars and
Cowboys.
Schuss is 0-5 with the Titans.
The pool in general is picking Redskins games correctly just 32% of
the time.
Speed Racer, Diane, and DOliver are each 0-6 with their 1-picks. The
pool in general is hitting just 36% with the 1-pick.
- Cowboy Hassanali is 0-6 with his 5-pick, and is just 2-10 with his
1- and 2-picks.
In 1996, with only 9 of us present poolsters in the pool, Franzen
somehow finished 23rd.
If Only...
-----------
Patrick Godsey, ÒtiedÓ for first, wouldÕve won the week if Chicago
couldÕve guarded the sideline just one time, or if SeattleÕs 12th man
couldÕve defended the house, or if the Niners, Panthers, Bengals, or
Ravens had won.
SchussDaddy wouldÕve won if either the AFC or NFC defending champion
wouldÕve won their game.
Kurt Schwartz wouldÕve won the week if the Broncos hadnÕt been
victimized by some make-up calls against the Jags.
Pick of the Week!
-----------------
In a landslide, Adam Jennings was lauded for showing his team pride,
stealing a potential Cleveland ÒonesieÓ from BAMF, and slipping into
the money with his Ò4Ó on the RoadBrowns.
In less dramatic fashion, Zack Schwartz was scoffed at for his
ridiculous 11 on the Ravens.
The computer agrees with the POW: AdamÕs 356 dots on the Browns was
more impressive than Banker BillÕs honorable 286 dots on the Packers.
And ZackÕs 422 lost dots are second only to FranzenÕs 564 sacrificed
dots on the Raiders (see Quote of the Week).
Potential ManDay just one week away!
----------------
Next Saturday, one week from today, there is a bona fide ManDay in the
works. Starting at 10am, there is the possibility of paintballing at
the army base, followed (and/or preceded by) a full-court game of hoop
at SLO High, followed by a much-deserved dinner in downtown SLO,
followed by more good food and drink in front of the UFC fights
(starring Anderson Silva), followed by a Sunday of lazy football-
watching.
So far weÕve had confirmation from Franzen, Franko, Zack, and Money
(for basketball). KenDoggie and Patrick have nodded in probability.
We have not heard from Wyatt, Jennings, Schuss, Kevin, or anybody else
who may want to participate in this existential celebration of
physicality (man-style), but we have great hopes. Let us know if
youÕre interested.
Tomorrow!
-------------
ChargerNation in a Òpick ÔemÓ game at DianeÕs Bills!
KevinÕs Vikings at MoneyÕs Bears
Speed RacerÕs Niners at The GodfatherÕs Giants
Oh hello! ZackÕs Jets at RaiderNation!
See ya then...
