Dylan Oliver Disrupts Emertonian Dominance -- sort of
DOliver wins week; all three Emertons win money

It's getting to be a cut-and-paste job here at Weekly Recap Headquarters: 
Emertons, Emertons, Emertons.  This week's exception was the emergence of 
DOliver, who made a run at the playoff line with his 9th all-time Weekly 
Win.  But it was Emerton in 2nd, it was Emerton in 3rd, Sabbe and Scott, and 
then it was Emerton in 6th.  Between the three of them, they have cashed 7 
times in the past three weeks, and 14 times this season.  And Eric Emerton, 
with 6 straight weeks in the money, is now one week away from tying Sabbe's 
all-time record.
       It was DOliver's first Weekly Win since the same week two years ago, 
and even though he only won by two points, it wasn't as close as it looked.  
The Saints got screwed, the Packers and Chargers got heartbroken; DOliver 
would have increased his margin of victory in each case.
      Oliver gained a lot of ground on the way towards the playoff line, and 
Mike Godsey dove hard again, but for the second straight week, the playoff 
picture remains the same.



- Eric Emerton has now won money in six straight weeks.  Schussel, 
Farnsworth, Kevin, Bill, Wego, Jennings, Franzen, Kurt, Hassanali, Jen, and 
Patrick have all *combined* for six money finishes this season.

- The Emertons went 18-0 with their highest six picks this week.

- Eric Emerton, with 3 Slates and 6 straight money finishes, has not won the 
week since Week 3 of 2000.

- Bill Ellis, the current owner of the Slate, has not finished in the money 
in the past 14 weeks.  He has not won the week since early 2001.

- Chris Sabbe once placed in the money for 7 straight weeks.  Until now, 
nobody in the pool has ever done 6 straight weeks, and only Scott Wyatt and 
Jason Sullivan had done 5 straight weeks.  Only six other poolsters have 
ever done 4 straight weeks.

- Jason Sullivan is 18-0 in games involving the Giants, Eagles, or Bears.

- Eric Emerton is 26-0 in games involving the Colts, Texans, Raiders, or 
Bills.

- Wego is 0-6 with Cowboy games.

- Farnsworth is 0-12 in games involving the Panthers or Vikings.

- Sullivan is 21-0 with his 14-, 12-, and 11-picks this season.

- Ken Vis is 6-15 with his 1-, 2-, and 4-picks; but he is 7-0 with his 
3-pick.

- Farnsworth finished in last place for the 13th time of his life, but it 
was the first time since 2003.  Money Retsek has never finished in last 
place.

- There were seven "swing games" -- games in which more than 1/3 of the pool 
put points on each team -- the most of any week this season.

- With the exception of one season (15th place), Sabbe never finished worse 
than 8th in his first nine years in the pool.  Since the birth of Rachel, he 
has now finished 17th, 20th, and is currently in 21st.

- In the first 5 years in the pool, Wego *averaged* a sixth-place finish in 
the FunkyPool.  Since the birth of Tyler last summer, he finished 22nd, and 
is now in 18th.

- Kevin Sabbe, on the other hand, has never finished in the top 10 of the 
season standings, except for the year after Hannah was born (4th) and the 
season after Kelsie was born (8th).



If only....

The Broncos were up 23-10 with 10 minutes left to go in the game.  If the 
Broncos had just held on (or kicked a field goal), Eric Emerton wins the 
week for the first time in 89 weeks.

The Titans were winning 10-0 right out of the gate.  If they had held on, 
Eric Emerton wins his first week in the last 89 tries.

If Diane's Bills could've taken down Raider Nation, she would've won her 
third week of the year.

If Dallas hadn't choked at Seattle, Hassanali would've won the week instead 
of finishing 11th.

If Cincy would've beaten Pitt, shocking, but an Emerton would've won the 
week.  This time, Robert.

If Jets win, Franzen wins.
If Dolphins win, Sullivan wins.
If Browns win, Sabbe wins.



Picks of the Week

Only ten people voted, but KenDoggie's BengalBashing was very exciting for 
at least 4 of our poolsters, and Ken gets his first POW of his entire life.  
Welcome to the club, Ken!
    COW was more of a scattered issue, but the only pick to get more than 
one nomination was Kevin Sabbe's 1 on the Niners.
     Actually, Kevin just came in with some VikingPride, so Farnsworth's 13 
on the Packers also has two nominations.  We do believe that the tie-breaker 
is total nominations in all games for one poolster, and since Farnsworth was 
also chastized for putting a dozen on the Cowboys, he gets the COW dishonor.
     Actually, Diane just came in to hate on Farnsworth as well, so it's a 
done deal.  It's Farnsworth's 11th COW, tying him with Jason Sullivan for 
the all-time "lead."

Just Saying

Last week Cal Poly's football team was ranked #3 in the country (Div. 1-AA). 
  And then they lost at #9 Montana.  No big news; they still suck.  We're 
just saying.
