The Wyatt Family Marches On, Wins Week 8
-----------------------------------------
The big family feud between reigning champion Bill Ellis and reigning weekly champion
Kathy Wyatt was set to take place on Monday night, in a classic game between Bill’s
Pack and Kathy’s Broncos. As it turned out, however, the week had already been
settled by husband/son-in-law Tully “Funky” Wyatt, thanks in part to his team’s
dominating victory over JLee’s Niners.
Knowing JLee, he probably wasn’t upset about a Niner loss as much as he
was frustrated by another excellent week of falling further off Banker Bill’s pace.
JLee missed just two games, and still lost ground to our pace-setter, who won money
for the 8th time in 9 weeks. Kathy, meanwhile, was not only forced to endure the
sight of Brett Favre running all over Invesco Field in wild celebration, also had
to suffer the indignity of a first-to-worst free fall in the weekly standings.
Wyatt, on the other couch, missing a Perfect Week by just one close game,
won his first week since 2005, and climbed back into the playoff picture. The Wyatt-Ellis
family has now won 9 of the last 11 weeks.

Stats and observations:

- The weekly win is Wyatt’s 11th career win, tying her with DOliver and and Kevin
Sabbe for 7th on the all-time list.

- It is also the 9th time that Kathy has finished in last place for the week. She
now ties Diane on the all-time list.

- Bill Ellis has extended his overall lead in seven of the eight weeks. He has also
finished in the money in every week except one. The lone exception was the week
he predicted he “would take off.”

- If JLee had picked every game perfectly over the past three weeks, he would only
be leading Bill Ellis by 2 points in the overall standings.

- JLee has missed just 8 games over the past 3 weeks, and he has fallen further
behind Bill Ellis in each of those weeks.

- If Eric Emerton had just reeled off 4 straight Perfect Weeks, he would still be
76 points behind Bill Ellis in the overall standings.

- Though it used to be his one self-proclaimed skill, it’s now been 47 weeks since
Mike Godsey has won the week, and 12 weeks since he’s won any money at all.

- Bill is now 28-0 with his picks of 12 or higher. He is 7-1 with his 11-pick.

- Several poolsters are undefeated with easy teams like the Colts, Patriots, and
Cowboys. Only Adam Jennings is undefeated with the Niners, and only Goose is undefeated
with the Bills.

- Cowboy Hassanali is 0-7 with the Eagles.

- Money Retsek is 1-6 with the Cowboys (the team he detests). His is also 1-7 with
the Bears (the team he supports).

If Only....
-----------
The Tampa Bay receiver could’ve held onto the Jeff Garcia pass (that is his only
job in life, after all), Wyatt would’ve had a perfect week.

With a Niner victory, Bill Ellis would’ve won his 5th week of the year, and his
6th week out of 9.

DOliver would have won with a Ram victory.

Farnsworth wins with a Raider win.

Diane wins with the Bears.

Schuss wins with the Vikings or Bengals.

DOliver also would have won if the Patriots had lost. I mean, just saying.

Pick of the Week!
---------------------
Godsey finally got some love for his Lion-lovin’ that’s been givin’ him so much
lovin’ this season. And Kevin Sabbe was paddled for his bloody Dolphin pick. It’s
the 7th and 5 and a halfth award respectively for those two hetero-award winning
campers.

Grand Marshal Godsey walks out of district “common ground” meeting
-----------------------------
Two weeks ago, the students of SLO High voted Godsey as their “Grand Marshal” of
Homecoming Festivities. The “honor” meant that Godsey, among other things, had
to take part in a choreographed dance at Monday’s rally, do a speech at Friday’s
pep rally, and ride in a parade through SLO.
But his first-ever district committee meeting the next week was a different
story. Just 45 minutes after chuckling to himself at the pre-meeting “social rules”
(which included a “time out” rule), the coach was accused by his union president
of being unfairly overpaid as a teacher-coach, causing Godsey to respond in a way
that got him “timed out” by the superintendent. While Godsey was still theoretically
in his one-minute “time out” penalty box, a middle school PE teacher – in terms
of his ability to teach his baseball class – questioned Godsey’s credentials. Immediately
considering 45 different answers that would have gotten him “timed out” for the
month, Godsey chose instead to simply walk home.
“I think the FunkyPool Smack Page has taught me, if anything, that a career
in politics, even school politics, is probably not going to make anybody on this
planet any happier. I’m much better at convincing teenagers that we have beat Atascadero,
and shakin’ my ass. Though not at the same time, or even sequentially.”

Next week:
=========
Kathy’s Broncos at Godsey’s Lions! Full boats!
ChargerNation at Kevin’s Vikings!
SchussDiesel’s Texans at RaiderNation!

See ya then…
