2025 FunkyDome Memorial NFL Pool

On ManWeekend, Jennings rules from a distance
---------------
For the 3rd Annual ManWeekend, Eric Franzen, Zack Schwartz, Patrick
Godsey, Franko Canova, and Mike Godsey all spent the weekend going
paintballing, playing basketball with Money, watching the UFC fights,
and even sprinting 100-yard dashes to prove “who the real man
was” (actually, it was just to see if Franzen could break 12.5
seconds). (He could.)
But even though he once claimed that he doesn’t “immaturely whip out
[his] full boat to wag at everyone in the pool in a misguided attempt
to prove [his] machismo and fanaticism,” it was our favorite hairy-
backed ex-lineman/outfielder/vodka-shooter Adam Jennings who came out
on top of the weekly standings. It wasn’t a full boat, but his 9 on
the Browns was the most manly solo shot since 2005, and it puts his
gorilla stance on the front page of the Funky website for the week,
and it pulls him within 2 points of the playoff line (after being 26
back last week).
Meanwhile, a man (The Man) regained his rightful place on top of the
FMNFLP standings, bumping Diane back to her inferior standing. After
her uppity Week 7, she dropped 17 points to Godsey, and now trails him
by 9 overall. Godsey’s lead is the biggest since Week 3, but more
importantly, he now leads everybody not named Emerton by at least 34.
All three Emertons are tailing him within a reasonable margin of
error, but the rest of the pool is fading like Sarah Palin.
Elsewhere in the weekly standings, Eric Franzen and Mike Godsey (who
went 7-0 in basketball and computer soccer) finished 2nd and 3rd.
DOliver kept his playoff hopes alive by finishing 4th, and the
infamously homoconfident fisherman Kevin Sabbe did likewise by
finishing 5th. Jennaroo, always happy to run with the boys, finished
sixth. Funky Wyatt, who didn’t return any text messages regarding
ManWeekend, finished in last place for the first time since 2002.

Stats and observations:

It had been 42 weeks since Adam had won a week. It’s his fifth career
victory, and ties him with Robert Hassanali on the all-time list.

DOliver won money for the first time 14 weeks. It has now been 14
weeks since Zack Schwartz has won money.

It had been 93 weeks since Wyatt had finished in last place. The
longest current streak is Bill Ellis, with 97 weeks out of the basement.

Only 10 poolsters (40%) got their 9-pick correct this weekend. (21 of
us got our 10-pick correct.) With the exception of Wyatt, everyone in
the bottom half of the pool got their 9-pick wrong. Out of top half
of the weekly pool, 9 of the poolsters got their 9-pick correct, and
Jennings’ week-winning solo shot was a 9. Godsey leads the pool by 9
points. This is all going into Week 9. Sabbe is now touching himself.
Adam’s solo shot was the 6th of his career, placing him 6th on the all-
time list. It was also the 7th-biggest of all-time and one of the few
that wasn’t a late-season desperation hail mary.

Somehow, Franzen is just 22 points off the playoff line.

Mike Godsey has finished in the Top 10 in every week this year.
Anyone else not named Emerton has finished at 18th or worse at least
once.

Diane and Eric Emerton are 16-0 with their 7-picks this year.

“Cowboy” Hassanali is 0-8 with his 5-pick this year.

If Only....

If the Steelers had won a close one, Franzen would’ve won the week for
the first time in 81 tries. He also would’ve won with Bengal victory,
and he would’ve won by 13 if the Raiders had won. If all three had
won, he would’ve won by 26 points.

If the Jags, Cardinals, or Bucs had won, DOliver would’ve won the week.

Pick of the Week!
----------
By respective landslides, Jennings wins his second POW in three weeks
(and 3rd of the year) for his 443-dot solo shot on the Browns, and
Wyatt earns his second rainbow wig in four weeks for his 487-dot full
boat on his Cardinals. Gotta appreciate the team pride, though. See
website for commentary.
